Care About Every Drop is a short video addressing the problem of an ever increasing shortage of clean water, one of the main issues linked to global warming. It was realised during a university workshop held by guest professor and director Alberto Amaya Calderon, and it was a five-day project: the brief was presented on Monday and the project was due by Friday.
Design
During this university workshop, groups were asked to shoot a short film — of approximately thirty seconds — talking about one effect caused by global warming. Even though we did a lot of research on the first day, we decided to avoid anything information-oriented; this approach was driven by the acknowledgment that global warming is a widely known phenomenon, and that numbers weren’t going to make people any more aware or interested. We just took what we learned to deliver a correct, accurate video, just like you’d normally do on any other design project.
We opted for a scene set up in a hypothetical though near future where people are forced to save water in the most creative ways: the film language suggests this makes for hard times, however the ways water is saved are almost absurd, including recycling water from the drying laundry or pouring the condensed water after having cooked.
Even though I’m usually not into videos, this was one of my best experiences at uni: I had never worked with Anita, Anna, Giulia, Ilaria, Li or Lorenzo before, but despite the very short time we had our cooperation was seamless. It was very easy to split the tasks and everybody contributed in their own way, putting in a great effort and working together as one.
